hey!
i've been finishing up projects around this new little place
most are boring (cleaning blinds, re-arrainging furniture....snore)
but, this one is pretty awesome:
a chalkboard wall in the kitchen
i've pinned the idea several times
and dreamt about the beautiful chalkboard wall i would create someday
someday has arrived!
before:
after:
here's how i did it in 5 easy steps:
1. i ordered the chalkboard contact paper from here (amazon is the greatest)
i went with the contact paper instead of paint after reading a bunch of reviews, i decided it might work better for the space i was using it for. also this brand was fantastic--highly recommend
2. it arrived and i opened the package
3. then i waited patiently for james to get home
this wasn't all laziness (but...mostly), it's much easier with two people
4. as i peeled back the sticky part of the contact paper, james used this to smooth out bubbles (again, amazonisthegreatestever) & we used a razor to trim the edges around the top and bottom of the cabinet
5. we gave each other a high five and ate some steamed artichokes
**anything with a flat edge will work for smoothing out bubbles
sometimes i like to stand in the kitchen and just look at it
What a creative and good idea Brenna- looks great! Love, Aunt Linda

DeleteLove Love Love, so cute! I didn't know they made contact type paper that was chalkboard, only knew about the paint. I will have to keep this in mind for our house in the future. Thanks! Good work, you two deserved high fives and steamed artichokes ;)
