sometimes, teaching can be hilarious.
and even more sometimes, teaching in the great state of utah can be hilarious.
for example, calling roll the first day of class: "liahona...present, ammon...present, talmage...present, and at least 7 brighams...present."
**on a side note, i have about 18 jacobs. what is that all about? is this twilight induced?**
also, sometimes my students mean to say "taxes" but say "tithing" instead.
and when i teach my legislative branch lesson and i ask them to define a quorum (the minimum number of congressmen/women who must be present to take a binding vote) things get pretty out-of-control. out-of-control-mormon.
then there are the hard-core romney fans (duh.) when i show a clip of romney: all out cheers. when we discussed how mitt won the florida primary? happy-tears. if he wins the GOP nomination? i don't even want to think about the exuberant joy of these teenagers.
anywho, i'm not sure why, maybe a combination of things-but this semester is feeling great. my stress level ha decreased by about 150% this week and i've realized i have really good classes. i'm knocking on wood right now, but seriously. did i get better? or did they? or neither and we're all just a lot more relaxed? whatever it is-it's lovely and i'm enjoying it. next week is their first test. i love the first test, that's when things get real.
