full disclosure: i finished this book 1.5 months ago. but, despite my delay in posting, it is good. my go-to smutty (and completely fanatastic) historical fiction writer is of course phillipa gregory. other boleyn girl? please. OB-sessed. but i may have found another in sarah dunant. florence italy at the height of the renaissace? a dark, brooding, mysterious artist? an arranged marriage with a scandalous secret? a smart, sharp heroine? yes, please.

meanwhile-i've almost finished the hunger games. read at the urging of 150 high school students. so quick, so tense, so many references to ancient rome. love.
